Just Add Ink #432 | Just Choose Two

Hey there stamping friends! It's that time again for another Just Add Ink Challenge. We've got a fun Just Choose Two Challenge - Buttons, Bows or Bling. But if you're like me you might not be able to decide which two to use and just use them all instead.

Buttons, Bows and Bling are perfect for any Christmas Card creation and that's what I've gone with today for this weeks challenge. I've combined the Festive Farmhouse DSP with the Merry Christmas to All stamp set and die bundle.

I've combined two of the patterns from the Festive Farmhouse DSP for a fun look. I really love mixing different DSP patterns together. The Christmas words mixed with the plaid/tartan pattern really gives an ecletic look.

For the bling component of my card I die cut the word 'Merry' out of Copper Glimmer Paper from the Joyous Noel 6" x 6" Glimmer Paper. How stunning is that Copper sparkle? Just pretty! I've also used Copper Metallic Thread, Copper Sequins from the Metallic Sequin Assortment and Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder. That's all counts as bling, right?

The button comes from the True Gentlemen Buttons and, it is a little bit hard to see but, the bow is tied out of the Copper Metallic Thread in the button, so it gives a really fine and soft bow.  I really love how all the elements of this card came together and the Copper with the Cherry Cobbler colour combo. Anything with a bit of sparkle and glitter is gorgeous in my eyes!

Just Add Ink #431 | Sketch Challenge

Hello crafters and stamping friends! Welcome to the new challenge that we have for you over at Just Add Ink #431. We have a fabulous sketch, suggested by DT member Tina. It's a pretty straight forward sketch and really you are only limited by your imagination.

I bought the Dashing Deer Bundle, from the Stampin' Up! 2018 Holiday Catalogue, a few weeks ago and have been wanting to create with it for a little bit now and this weeks sketch was the perfect opportunity. I've gone with a metallic and rustic look for today's card. Using the Wood Textures DSP for the base of the card with Early Espresso, Merry Merlot, Gray Granite and Copper for the colour combo. Its a gorgeous deep, rich and luxe colour combo.

I cut out the piece of Wood Textures DSP, sponged Early Espresso Ink around the edges and then layered it on Early Espresso cardstock.  Over the Wood Textures I've used a strip of the Joyous Noel DSP. The Merry Merlot colour goes fantastically with the Early Espresso colour. I'm really loving this colour combo.

I've layered a piece of Vellum over the Joyous Noel strip, that I die cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits and then embossed with the Corrugated Dynamic Embossing Folder. Over the Vellum is another DSP pattern from the Joyous Noel DSP.  The deer pattern from the DSP is a good match to the Dashing Deer Bundle, don't you think?

For the deer, I've gone with a tone on tone look by using Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder on Copper Foil Sheets and then this Copper picks up the Copper Foil in the DSP patterns. How beautiful are the swirly antlers on the deer? Really gives a elegance and Christmas feel to the deer. 

While I changed up some of the elements of the sketch I really love all the layers and elements that brought this card together and anything with beautiful metallic elements and you've got me.

TGIF Challenges | #tgifc181 Sketch Challenge | Snowflake Showcase

Hello there stamping and crafting friends! Welcome, welcome! I'm joining in with this weeks challenge over at TGIF Challenges #tgifc181. Its a gorgeous sketch with lots of layering elements which just screams 'Rochelle' but as with most sketches I've changed it up. I've turned the sketch on its side while still trying to keep the same design elements as what the sketch has.

Today I'm using some products from the Snowflake Showcase Special Release, which is on pre-order now for Stampin' Up! Demonstrators and will be available for customers to purchase 1st - 30th November 2018. There are two fabulous stamp sets, one amazing set of Thinlits, Snowflake Trinkets and the beautiful White Velvet Paper which is like a whole sheet of flocked paper. The whole showcase is just AMAZING! Check out the flyer at the bottom of the post to see all the fabulous products. I've used on my card today the Snow is Glistening Stamp Set, Snowfall Thinlits, White Velvet Paper and the Snowflake Trinkets.

I started with the spotty image from the stamp set that looks like snow falling and stamped a boarder around the Pool Party cardstock with Whisper White ink. The Pool Party piece is layered on a piece of DSP from the All is Bright Designer Series Paper. The white card base is just Shimmery White cardstock.

How gorgeous is the white snowflake? Super pretty and super soft! It's really hard to tell but it has been die cut out of the new White Velvet Paper. It is just stunning. This is one paper that you will have to see in real life just to touch it for that beautiful velvet feel. 

The smaller snowflakes come from the same thinlits set as the larger one, Snowfall Thinlits Dies. There are 20 dies in this set and they are perfect for layering. Some of the dies even die cut around some of the images from the two new stamp sets. So versatile. I've used some of the smaller snowflake dies, cut them out of Pool Party cardstock, sponged the edges with Whisper White Ink and then coloured over them with Clear Wink of Stella. The subtle shimmer of the Clear Wink of Stella goes perfectly with the subtle shimmer of the Shimmery White cardstock base.

The card is then finished off with the sentiment from the Snow is Glistening Stamp set, embossed in Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder, White Solid Baker's Twine, Braided Linen Thread, Copper Metallic Thread, Metallic Assortment Sequins and the Snowflake Trinket. All just so pretty!

Stamp to Share Internatinal Design Team Blog Hop | Frosted Floral

Hello stamping friends! Welcome to this months Stamp to Share International Design Team Blog Hop. This blog hop we are creating with products from my second favourite Bundle/Suite in the Stampin' Up!® 2018 Holiday Catalogue -  First Frost Bundle and the Frosted Floral Suite.

Any stamp set and DSP with flowers or a floral look and you've got me and this First Frost Bundle and Suite has completely got me. It's just gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. The soft and dreamy florals have a frosted look that you can usenot only in the Festive Season but all year long.

For my card today I've made a Napkin Fold card with a gorgeous belly band. The actual card shows off some of the stunning Frosted Floral Specialty DSP and the belly band show cases the stamp set, framelits and the beautiful Tranquil Tide Velvet Ribbon. 

For how to make this Napkin Fold card I followed a few different tutorials that I had saved on one my Pinterest boards. I mainly followed this one for the actual measurements. It really is quite an easy card to score and fold but once all folded together, decorated and embellished, looks quite intricate.

The 'brown' card base is a 12" x 12" sheet of Soft Suede from the Neutrals 12' x 12'" Cardstock Assortment Pack, trimmed down to 11" x 11". I then scored and folded the Soft Suede into the Napkin Fold Card and then accented with the Frosted Floral Specialty DSP.  The DSP has some beautiful and elegant textured designs printed on shimmery white paper for that gorgeous subtle shimmer. Oh its so pretty! The photos here and in the Stampin' Up!® 2018 Holiday Catalogue don't do it justice. This is one DSP pack that you have to see in real life! So get it TODAY!!!

The belly band starts with the actual band made out of Blushing Bride cardstock, and then stamped on that is the long 'leaf' image from the First Frost stamp set, stamped in Blushing Bride Classic Ink, for that tone on tone look. Then on that is layers of ribbon, trim, die cuts and stamped images, most from the Frosted Floral Suite but not all.

To open the card you just take off the belly band and then just pull two flaps from two opposite corners and, the way the card has been folded and the mechanics of the folds, the card should just 'pop' and unfold to open.

On the inside of the card, each triangle has been accented with the Frosted Floral Specialty DSP and then the centre panel is to write your sentiment. You could stamp and embellish the centre panel for even more of a WOW and a special card. To make the card even more special you could make a co-ordinating envelope using the Envelope Punch Board. 

I love the mix of the dark neutral card base, the bright purple in the DSP and then the contrast of the soft colours in the belly band bringing the whole card together. Pretty, well it is to me. Check out my card here that I made also with the First Frost Bundle for more First Frost ideas.

Just Add Ink #429 | Just Add Vellum

Hello there stamping and crafting friends! It's Friday and that means two things. It's nearly the weekend, YAY, and we have a new challenge over at Just Add Ink | Just Add Vellum. Vellum would have to be one of my most favourite and most used papers and it goes with just about everything!

I've used the vellum today by not only embossing it for added texture but using it to tone down busy DSP's and to give a softer look.  This is my most favourite way to use vellum.

I've used the products from the Stampin' Up! Festive Farmhouse Suite in the 2018 Holiday Catalogue, I really love the tartan/plaid pattern but found with all the layering of the ribbon,trim and embellishments it was all getting too much. So its the vellum to the rescue! You can still see the pattern from the DSP coming through the vellum but now it's got a much softer look.

Vellum is fabulous to emboss for some more added elements and texture. You may find though with the newer Stampin' Up! Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folders that the vellum may crack. It really will just be though a process of trial and elimination as to what Embossing Folders work and what doesn't.

Global Design Project #GDP158 | Sketch Challenge

Hello there crafting friends! If you are an avid follower of my blog you may have noticed that it was a little quiet around here. I've been away with my family for a week on a little holiday and then my kids are also on their Spring School Holidays so that leaves not so much crafting and creating time for me. I did manage to get in a few hours of crating time while the kids were watching a movie so I'm feeling better that I got some 'crafting me time' in.

Today I'm playing along with the fun sketch over at the Global Design Project #GDP158. Of all the card challenges out there a sketch challenge is my very favourite.

And yes I'm crafting with the Joyous Noel DSP and the Peaceful Noel Stamp set. The products from this suite have really gotten a workout from me. It makes it so easy to create and craft when the products are so fabulous and gorgeous!

I've pretty my followed the sketch to the 'T',so not like me at all, with a Gray Granite card base and then layering of the Gray Granite cardstock and the Gray Granite DSP piece with the beautiful copper foil in the print. Over that is an embossed piece of Tranquil Tide cardstock and then the Tranquil Tide DSP piece over that. 

Tranquil Tide has really been a standout colour for me this year so far in my Christmas creations and is perfect with Merry Merlot for those deep, rich and luxe Christmas cards.

Teamed up with all the different pieces of DSP is some of the Joyous Noel 6" x 6" Glimmer Paper that comes in three colours - Tranquil Tide, Merry Merlot and Copper. There is a little bit of the Tranquil Tide Glimmer Paper just peeking out the bottom of the embossed piece and then the snowflakes are in the Copper Colour. Pretty!! 

The card is then finished with some images from the Peaceful Noel stamp set, that I cut out with my Scan 'N' Cut, and some Copper Metallic Thread. The only thing that I did change up was the placement of the sentiment to suit the look of my card.

I really think that the sketches from the sketch challenges are really the starting point to your creation and any changes that you happen to make are really just your creative interpretation of the sketch. As long as you keep the basic design principles.
