Funky Folds Blog Hop #7

Hello stamping friends. Thank you for joining me on my blog today. Welcome to Funky Folds Blog Hop #7.

We are a community of paper crafters who love to make cards with funky/fancy/fun folds and to share our ideas. Each and every month the blog hops will have and 'anything goes' theme as long as your card has some type of 'funky' fold.

I've made for you today a Pop-Up Gift Card Holder. I had made one of these before, years ago, HERE and wanted to revisit this type of card as we come into the gift giving season. It's always nice to make something a little special to put a gift card in and 'jazz' it up a bit.

You may be thinking, "Hang on a minute, this doesn't look like a funky fold card"! And, yes the card does look like a normal card from the outside but when you open it up that is where the funky fold comes into play.

For the front of the card I cut down and layered one of the Gold Dipped Mix & Match Specialty Cards and then embossed that with the New Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder. I've then embellished the front of the card with the new Mix & Match Ephemera from the 2024 Sept-Dec Mini Catalogue.

When you open the card the pop-up for the gift card is revealed. On the inside I've used some of the Nest of Winter DSP and then used more of the Gold Dipped Mix & Match Specialty Cards to create the pop-up mechanism. I made the envelope for the gift card myself  but you can use a small envelope for the gift card if you don't want to make one yourself.

There is a panel on the back for you to write a personalise message or you could put a small note in with the gift card.

I do hope you like my Funky Fold that I've shared with you today and have given you another idea on how to make gift card giving that little bit more special.

Next up on the hop is the amazing Andrea Sargent. She always has fabulous creations and I'm sure today is no different.

If you love to make cards with creative folds and would like to join in with our monthly Funky Folds Blog Hop, you are welcome to head on over to our community group on Facebook HERE to be part of the fun.

Funky Folds Blog Hop #6

Hello stamping friends. Thank you for joining me on my blog today. Welcome to Funky Folds Blog Hop #6.

We are a community for like minded paper crafters who love to make cards with funky/fancy/fun folds and to share our ideas. Funky actually means “modern and stylish in an unconventional or striking way”. We are featuring cards that are not your usual rectangle/square portrait of landscape style cards.

Each and every month the blog hops will have and 'anything goes' theme as long as your card has some type of 'funky' fold.

I've made for you today a Spanner Panel Card. Why it's called that I've got no idea! I'd not seen this type of Fun Fold card before until recently and was keen to give it a go. What I love about it is that this type of card looks difficult to make but in fact it is quite simple. All that is required when cutting your card base is 2 extra cuts and you have your base for a Spanner Panel Card. How you layer or embellish your card is up to you as to whether you want a CAS card or one that is a little Stepped Up. I think I went for the Stepped Up version

While the card is closed it looks like a relatively normal, standard card. When you open the card that is where the magic happens. I've used the products from the Unbounded Beauty Suite to create my card today with a Pretty in Pink and Peach Pie colour combo.  I've used layers of the Unbounded Beauty DSP with Pretty in Pink and Peach Pie Cardstock for the side and centre panels and then added some layering of stamped inmages, die-cuts, DSP, twine, and embellishments.

A fabulous feature of this card is how the front panel opens. A 'bridge' is created to hold the outer panels together. You can use a window sheet for the bridge to make it look like your stamping and embellishments are floating or you can use DSP and cardstock for the bridge.

Lift the centre panel of the card to reveal the inside of the card. Here you can add more stamped sentiments and this hidden layer is perfect to add a personalised, hand-written message.

Sometimes Funky/Fancy Fold cards are difficult to send through the post, this one will fit into a regular envelope for you to send a special card to a special friend.

I do hope you like my Funky Fold that I've shared with you today. I really enjoy making these Funky Folds and creating something a little different to a standard card.

Next up on the hop is Tammy Fite with her Funky Fold. I can't wait to see what she has made for us.

Stampin' Fancy Friday | Annual Favs Challenge

Hello stamping friends! It's a new month its time for us to get our fancy on with the new Stampin' Fancy Friday Challenge. This month we are all about our New Annual catalogue Favs. The Design Team were to create a fancy project using any new Stampin' Up! products from the new 2024 - 2025 Annual Catalogue.

While I love just about everything in this new catalogue a real standout for me was the amazing Mediterranean Blooms DSP. The blue and white patterns on one side and then the Yellows, Oranges, and Greens on the other for a beautiful sun-soaked citrus and enchanting Mediterranean look.

Isn't it just stunning??!!

I've created a Fancy/Fun Fold card for you today with my adaptation of a Criss Cross Card. I followed this tutorial here for the basic design but changed it up a little to make it my own.

The base of the card is two cards adhered together in the middle and then the each side panel is diagonaly cut from corner to corner. These panels fold over each other thus creating the Criss Cross. These side panels can be glued together so that they make a pocket like card or left as is so that they can open to see the inside of the card.

I left the panels as is so that they can open once the belly band is taken off. I've created the base of the card with Basic White and then layered Night of Navy and one of the Mediterannean Blooms DSP patterns. In the centre I've added the beautiful foliage die cut from the Citrus Blooms Dies to add a bit of tone on tone interest and texture.

The belly band uses the same coordination of products but with the addition of some of the citrus designs from the Mediterannean Blooms DSP. These citrus colours create a beautiful contrast to the blue and white tones and add to the stunning look of this DSP. Some of the citrus designs are even large enough to fussy cut and can be used as an element on your projects.

Here I've layered various circle dies with the smaller of the foilage dies and that beautiful lemon imagery fron the Mediterannean Blooms DSP. The Blues and Yellows remind me a lot of the colours of my primary school uniform that was these colours but it didn't look nearly half as stunning as this DSP. Ha!

The belly band has been finished off with some Linen Thread, the Black & Very Vanilla Large Check Ribbon, some Opal Rounds and a heat embossed sentiment from the Country Birdhouse Stamp Set.

I do hope you like my Fancy creation using one of my Stampin' Up! 2024 - 2025 Annual Catalogue Favourites and that I've given you some inspiration in using the Mediterannean Blooms DSP.

Check out the rest of the Annual Catalogue Favs and all the different creations that the Stampin' Fancy Friday Design Team has made on the Stampin' Fancy Friday Instagram Account or on the Stampin' Fancy Friday Facebook page. This is where all their creations will be shared throughout the month, so make sure that you are following them to get all of the amazing ideas! You won't be short of inspiration!

Funky Folds Blog Hop #4

Hello stamping friends. Thank you for joining me on my blog today. Welcome to Funky Folds Blog Hop #4

I've made for you today a Gatefold Pop-Up Card card using some of the products from the Stampin' Up! Lily Pond Lane Suite found in the 2024 - 2025 Annual Catalogue. Thank you Claire at Created the Ottaway for your tutorial.

I was really taken by the Lily Pond Lane 6" x 6" DSP and that is the main focus of my card. I really love the floral images and patterns of the DSP rather than the ducks and fish images. I do think the ducks, fish and frogs are cute but I really love the flowers and patterns on the DSP a little bit more.

I've used the colours from the DSP as my colour combo for my card - Pretty Peacock, Pretty in Pink, Peach Pie, and Basic White. The outside I've layered Pretty in Pink and one of the DSP sheets on a Pretty Peacock card base. On that I've made a belly band to hold the card closed and layered Lily Pond Lane DSP, cardstock, die-cuts, ribbon and trim, and the Happy Birthday embossed sentiment.

The inside of the card is more of the same of layering of cardstock and DSP for a coordinated look but a change up of the DSP images and patterns. While the card is quite busy on the inside I love the mix of the different images and patterns. I love how by changing up the DSP from the front to the inside creates a whole different look. The front to the inside almost look like two different cards. The Pretty Peacock was the more dominant colour on the front where as on the inside Pretty in Pink and Peach Pie are the more dominant colours.

When the card is opened the centre panels pop out creating the pop up effect. To write a message on the card there is a panel on the back with room for you to write something special.

I do hope you like my Funky Fold that I've shared with you today. I really enjoy making these Funky Folds and creating something a little different to a standard card.

Next up is Chantell Randall from Western Australia, with her Funky Fold. I can't wait to see what she has made for us.

Funky Folds Blog Hop #3

Hello stamping friends. Welcome to Funky Folds Blog Hop #3.

I've made for you today a Star Explosion Pop-Up card using products from the beautiful Stampin' Up! Country Woods Suite found in the new 2024 - 2025 Annual Catalogue. I've used the tutorial and measurements from Sam Calcott at Mixed Up Craft.

When the card is closed it looks fairly inconspicuous but when you take off the belly band and open the card up that is where the magic happens. Here on the front I've layered Basic White, Pool Party and the Country Woods DSP for the front of the card and then I've used Misty Moonlight for the belly band and added DSP, Ribbon, stamped images and die-cuts using products from the Country Woods Suite.

On the inside is a scored centre panel that all folds in neatly together when the card is folded closed. When opened the centre circle piece pops up and stands up a little off the card for that added element and dimension.  As well as using the Country Woods DSP I've also adde some of the Country Lace DSP to layer on some of the panels and used more of the products from the Country Woods suite to embellish the inside.

I coloured the floral images in using Stampin' Blends Alcohol Markers and used the same floral images on the front as what is on the inside to keep that continuity from the outside to the inside.

Stampin' Blends Used
Flowers - Light Peach Pie, Light & Dark Petal Pink, Light Summer Splash, Light & Dark Pool Party, Light and Dark Boho Blue, Light Balmy Blue, Light Lemon Lolly
Leaves - Light & Dark Mossy Meadow
Teapot - Light and Dark Gray Granite

I've even added some Basic White Panels on the back for you to write your message. This is such a WOW card when you open it. It's one of those cards that you hand deliver to your best crafting friend just so that you can see their reaction to when they open it.

I do hope you like my Funky Fold that I've shared with you today. I just love how it turned out especially with the use of the Country Woods Suite products. This is another amazing suite that I've fallen in love with.

Next up is Bronwyn Eastley from Tasmania, Australia with her Funky Fold. I can't wait to see what she has made for us.

Funky Folds Blog Hop #2

Hello stamping friends. Welcome to the Funky Folds Blog Hop.

We are a new group of like-minded paper crafters who love to make cards with funky folds (fun folds). Funky actually means "modern and stylish in and unconventional or striking way"... so we are featuring cards that are not you usual rectangle/square portait or landscape style. Think 'easel', 'pop-up', 'gatefold', 'z-fold', 'shaped' or '3D' cards. The list is endless.

All Funky Folds Blog Hops have an 'anything goes' theme using any type of  'funky' card fold. Here today I've made a Pop Up Box Card featuring products from the new Stampin' Up! Unbounded Beauty Suite, that will be coming out in the new 2024 - 2025 Stampin' Up! Catalogue that customers can purchase from on 1st May, 2024.

This is a fantastic card to use up all that DSP that we all have in our stashes. Here I've used the Unbounded Beauty 12" x 12" DSP. This DSP has all the bright and beautiful new In Colors and is so stunning! You start with an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of DSP and once you make all the score lines and folds you have a box that you can fold flat (perfect for posting).

Once the belly band is taken off, gently pull the flaps to either side and the box opens up. You are able to add a piece of cardstock inside the box for you to be able to write your message. You could probably fit a gift card of some sort in there too. Or if you want you can also decorate the inside and have your message panel on the back of the box.

Here I've got the message piece embellished with the same DSP as the outside of the box for a coordinated look. I've left it loose to take out but you could adehere the message panel in with adhesive if you prefered.

When the box is unfolded this is how big it is when it is opened up, and then it folds completely flat when all folded up.

The belly band is made with Summer Splash cardstock and Summer Splash Ribbon. I've die cut a circle using the Stylish Shapes dies and added some ink blending on it using the new Pretty In Pink Ink. The layered die cuts, stamped images and sentiment come from the Flowers in Beauty Bundle and the Unbounded Love Bundle, both from the Unbounded Beauty Suite. I can't love this suite enough! It is that stunning!

If you are wanting to make the Box card, check out the tutorial HERE.

Up next is Lou Kitzelman from Australia. I can't wait to see what she has made for our Funky Folds Blog Hop.

Just Add Ink #694 | Colour Challenge

Hello there stamping friends! I hope that you are having a fantastic week and a fabulous day! It's Friday, Yay, and that means it's time for another Just Add Ink Challenge - Just Add Ink #694 | Colour Challenge.

This week we have a fun colour combo for you using Fresh Freesia, Pretty Peacock and Cajun Craze. We just happen to be using my least favourite Stampin' Up! Colour - Cajun Craze. I know we've all got a colour that we strongly dislike, well mine is Cajun Craze. What is yours? I think I'm still on my first pack of Cajun Craze cardstock and I've been a Stampin' Up! demo for over 10 years!

I've made a Fun Fold card for you today that I saw on fellow JAI DT Member Di Barnes blog and also Linda Dalke's Instagram a long time ago and have been wating to make it for ages.

I'm not sure what this Fun Fold is actually called but I'm going to call it the Wing Fold as you'll see in my other photos why I've called it that.

I've used a Basic White base for the card and then layered Fresh Freesia cardstock and the DSP from the Perennial Lavender DSP. Over the DSP I flicked the Pretty Peacock Stampin' Write marker for some inky splatters and then using a Blending Brush added a little Pretty Peacock Ink around the DSP edges for a little layered depth. It's hard to see the blended ink edges here in the photo but I assure you I did do it.

I've decorated the front with some layered circles, using Vellum, Fresh Freesia and Basic White. Two of the circle die cuts come from the New Spotlight on Nature Bundle from the new 2024 - 2025 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue that SU demonstrators can pre order from on 2nd April 2024 and SU customers can purchase from 1st May 2024. It's an amazing catalogue with lots of amazing products! I love it!

I've then used products from the Perennial Lavender Suite to finish layering and embellishing my 'Wing' Fun Fold card.

Once the 'wings' unfold open then there is a panel inside where you can write your message, or if you want you can decorate this panel as well and then use the panel on the back to write your message.

Here on the inside I've used the same DSP and cardstock for some more layering and then added some stamping and some Baker's Twine.

I do hope that you like my take on this week's challenge colours. I actually liked the addition of Cajun Craze in this colour combo but you probably won't see me use it much more than this. It's still not my favourite. Ha!

Go and check out the design teams take on this week's colours at the Just Add Ink Blog for some inspiration and then come and join in this week's sketch fun! I can't wait to see what you create.

Click the image below to be taken straight to this week's challenge.
