The Stamp Review Crew | Flower Shop Edition

http://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2016/06/stamp-review-crew-flower-shop-edition.html

Hello and welcome! Thank you so much for stopping by to see what the  Stamp Review Crew have to show you. We are a group of International Stampin' Up! demonstrators showcasing one stamp set at a time, every first and third Monday's of the month. Today we have a floral explosion for you, showing the stamp set Flower Shop. If you are looking for it in the Stampin' Up! Annual catalogue its on page 105. There are six different floral images in the set that appeals to each and every crating taste.

I've only used one of the images from the set and used White Stampin' Emboss Powder to emboss the image.

I've then used three of the Stampin' Up! colours, So Saffron, Pink Pirouette and Cherry Cobbler, to colour the images using an aqua painter. The best thing about embossing images before you colour them is that you don't have to take as much care when colouring them in and then you can do it quite quickly. In my photo I had trouble capturing the softness and the prettiness of the Pink Pirouette and it looks white. If you've got any photography tips on how I can better capture the lighter colours just leave a comment for me.

The back scallop layer is the all new Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate sheets. They are gorgeous! One side is gold and the other side looks silver!! These are as the title says just 'Fabulous'! I've finished it off with some leave from the Flourish Thinlits, the new and wonderful Burlap Ribbon and the new Very Vanilla Lace Trim. SO, SO pretty! I'm loving all these new trims and papers.

I hope that I've inspired you to pull this set out again and have another play with it.

Now on to the super fabulous and super amazing Tayna Boser. If you are hoping in reverse click on the previous blog button to head on to the wonderful, Yapha Mason.

Swirly Bird Sailing - TGIFC60/GDP040

Oh yeah!! It's Friday, my kids had their last day of term 2 (3 weeks of school holidays, WOOHOO) and its time for a new challenge at TGIF Challenges.

This week is a theme challenge, Travel. The breif for our projects was 'Projects should be inspired by a trip/vacation you want to go on or have been on! Or just a general travel theme!'

I don't have any travel type stamp sets and didn't have any Project Life pages ready to go from a recent trip so my thought behind my card today is that the sailng and boating are something you can do while you are on holidays or its another form of transportation to get to your desination.

My card is made for the TGIF Challenges deisgn team but I'm also linking it up to the challenge over at Global Design Project #GDP040 - CASEing Shawn de Oliveira.

I loved the layout of Shawn's card but I've flipped it so that the skinny panel was on the left of the card instead of the right. That side panel was the starting point of my card and then it went from there.

I cut out 4 of the long die from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits dies and stuck them over the Dapper Denim panel. The overhanging pieces I trimmed off using my Paper Trimmer.

The panel on the other side I've given a light wash with Smoky Slate ink and then used the splatter image from Gorgeous Grunge. That is a less messy way to get the splattered look onto your cards and I love that you don't have to line anything up when stamping that image. Just ink and stamp. Too easy!

The boat pieces come from the stamp set that co-ordinates with the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits, Swirly Bird. There are lots of fabulous pieces in that set to make lots of different things. So very versatile. I stamped the three pieces of the boat on another piece of Whisper White cardstock and then fussy cut them out. I love that they pop of the card and have dimension.

I've used the new Layering Circles Framelits to cut out the circles and finished it off with some of the so gorgeous new Burlap Ribbon, the beautiful Dapper Denim Ribbon and some Whisper White Bakers Twine.
Just looking at that sailing boat is making me wish it was summer again. Can't wait to get back to the water but it's a little to chilly for that now. I swear we have winter to teach us some lessons in patience. Something like there is a time for everything and everything in its time, or something like that.

I do hope that you will play along this week. For all the details on this weeks challenge and to see the projects from the ever fabulous Design Team,  click here. Remeber to mention TFIG Challenges in your blog post and when sharing your project publicly, please use this weeks hashtag- #TGIFC60.

Just Add Ink #316 - Just Add Stripes

Happy Friday everyone and welcome to a new Just Add Ink Challenge.
This weeks challenge is Just Add Stripes and what better stripes to use that the black and white bold stripes from the Stampin' Up! Pop of Pink DSP pack.

Striped DSP seems to be my go to of late. I just love the bold, stripes and then to mix it with something delicate just appeals to my card making design. The black and white stripe from the Pop of Pink DSP is another one of those DSP sheets that you wish was just a whole pack of that. I would buy it that's for sure.

I've started with a Basic Black base and layered some of the Pop of Pink DSP, a melon mambo side and then the bold black and white stripe side.

I've teamed up those fabulous stripes with the delicate leaves/flowers flourish from the Flourish Thinlits Dies. They look stunning die cut in the Gold Foil sheets. I've only adhered it by the piece under the sentiment. I like the fact that it isn't completely stuck to the card and looks like it is floating off the card.

The flourish is layered with some of the new Burlap Ribbon, Melon Mambo Thick Bakers twine and some Gold Sequin Trim. I normally add sequins and other embellishments to finish off my cards but I though the flourish across the front was enough and didn't need anything else.

Now head on over the to Just Add Ink page and see how each of the design team used the Just Add Stripes theme. You wont be dissapointed.

The Stamp Review Crew | Papillon Potpourri Edition

http://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2016/06/stamp-review-crew-papillon-potpourri.html

A big welcome to you today!! Thank you so much for stopping by to see what the  Stamp Review Crew have to show you. We are a group of International Stampin' Up! demonstrators showcasing one stamp set at a time, every first and third Monday's of the month. This hop we are using and oldie but certainly a goodie, Papillion Potpourri.

This set as been in the Stampin' Up! collection for a little bit now but it is still an extra fabulous set. This is one of the few sets that I have left in the older style clam shell case. My collection of these cases is slowly dwindling away. And before I know it they will all be gone.

I this set is just different butterfly images with out any sentiments. Some of the images go with some of the butterfly punches in the catalogue, Elegant Buttefly and Bitty Butterfly. These punches then make it super quick and super easy to roll out a fun and fabulous card.

I've only used one of the butterfly images from the set and then teamed it up with one of the words from gthe new Thoughtful Banners set.

I started off with a light watercolour wash of Flirty Flamingo on Shimmery White cardstock. Even though the Shimmery White isn't officially a watercolour paper it still does hold a little bit of water making for a beautful water colour wash.

I've then stamped the butterfly image also with Flirty Flamingo and then punched it out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch. The punch is slightly smaller than the butterfly image but it still punches out a beautiful butterfly.

Its all layered with some punched out Glassine sheets, Metalic foil doilies, Gold Sequin Trim, Melon Mambo Thick Bakers Twine and a Mint Macaron Stamped Banner. The Glassine sheets are quite thin to use a punch with and they slightly tore around the edges. I actaully love that they aren't perfectly cut out and it just gives another element to the circles. I also scruched up the glassine circles to give them some more texture, aslo for another element.

Now on to the super fabulous Dawn Tidd. If you are hoping in reverse click on the previous blog button to head on to the wonderful, Wendy Weixler.

TGIF Challenges #58 - Colour Challenge

This week at TGIF Challenges we have a bright and colourful colour challenge for you. It looks so summery an cheery but it is far from summery here in Melbourne today as we start winter. Makes me wish so much it was summer.

Because all three of these colours are so bright I decided to tone some of them down. I gave a water colour wash background on the base of the card in Daffodil Delight. This softened the whole look of the card. I also find Pumpkin Pie a little on the bright side so I first inked up the splotches image from Swirly Bird and then stamped it off once so it was toned down a little.

The butterfly from Watercolour Wings is all stamped with Melon Mambo and varying stages of stamping off the ink. I had to have a think for a minute what order the images go since I haven't used this one for a while but I soon remembered.

Its embellished with some Gold Metallic thread, White Sequins from the Metallics Assortment (which are all over my desk and I have to pick up. Ugh!) and one of the Swirly dies cut out of vellum.

I really love that there is no sentiment on the card and it is stripped back a bit. Sometimes is nice to have a card on hand like this that isn't for a specific event and you can give it to someone just cause.

I do hope that you will play along this week. For all the details on this weeks challenge and to see the projects from the ever fabulous Design Team, click here. Remember to mention TFIG Challenges in your blog post and when sharing your project publicly, please use this weeks hashtag- #TGIFC58

Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper in Focus | Affectionately Yours

Today I'm showing you my all time favourite DSP from the new 2016 - 2017 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, Affectionately Yours. Is pretty, its bright, its florally and 2 of the sheets have some hints of COPPER!!! Its just all round AMAZING! Yes I was singing that when I typed it! Ha!

I've got some cards, some 3-D items and a scrapbook page all showing this beautiful paper. I hope that by showcasing it you will want it too.

Warning : This post contains lots of photos, so grab a cuppa and a Tim Tam or two and let me inspire you with some creations.

All my creations are a bit of new mixed with a bit of product that I had from last years catalogue that carried over while I wait for my box of new goodies that I ordered the day the new Annual Catalogue went live on June 1st. Lucky I've got heaps of things to do over the next few days. That makes the waiting a little easier.

First up I've started with a sponged circle in Daffodil Delight and used some strips of Affectionately Yours down the side. Its accented with my favourite embellishment at the moment, splatters of Gold Wink of Stella, Gold Sequins, Gold 1/8" Ribbon, Mint Macaron Banner and some other bits and pieces.

Next I've covered the whole card front with the DSP that has the hints of copper through it. I didn't want to cover it up completely with a layer of cardstock so I've stitched a panel of embossed vellum over the top. Its then finished of with a flower from the Botanical Builder Dies.

The last card I've teamed up the floral DSP with the Birthday Blossoms stamp set. I heat embossed some of the images with white embossing powder on to Shimmery White cardstock and then coloured them in with an aqua painter.

Next I've made a Mini Album that would make a fabulous gift for someone. I got the instructions from a You Tube clip here
I've just created the bare bones of the mini album and then I will decorate and embellish it for someone down the track.
The front is embellished with a Gold Glimmer butterfly, some vellum and some new Flirty Flamingo ribbon.

The inside of the album is a concertina style. You just pull the top page out and then it all unfolds.

This is the inside. I live that the inside DSP is different from the outside to give a different look.

And then the pages unfolded out.

This is my most favourite paper of the whole pack. It is stunning. The only thing is that there is only one sheet of it in the pack. I could have a whole pack of just this sheet. Looks like I have to get another pack of DSP now. Ha!
The copper print over the page is just beautiful and I thought is would make a stunning gift box for a stunning gift.

The last is a scrapbook page. Again I've splattered the whole page with Gold Wink of Stella. Just a tip if your going to splatter the whole page like that just be careful not to smudge it as it takes a while to dry.

The DSP is quite busy for a scrapbook page so I've just used some strips of it on the page. I would have put a photo on the page but I ran out of time to get one printed. Oops.

Its accented with some of the co-ordinating Washi Tape and a flower made with some of Stampin' Up!s flower punches. I think when I get a photo in it I will accent it more to match with the photo.

I hope that I've inspired you with this new and completely stunning DSP and you are off to order some now.

Just Add Ink #314 - Just Add Inspiration

Hello and Happy Friday to you!!! Here's to the weekend. I hope that it will be a great start to the weekend. My kids have the day off school for Report Writing day so we can have a sleep in, have a fabulous day at home and a little break to our routine. We might even go out for a coffee, for me, and a hot chocolate for the kids. I know they will love that.

This week at Just Add Ink we have an inspiration pic an I can certainly say that I was super stumped with this one. The colours are stunning but I just didn't know what to do with it. After a little chit chat with my fabulous friend Chloe Evans, check out her blog here, I was able to nut out a card. Thanks Chloe!!

My inspiration this week also came from the fabulous sketch challenge this week over at Global Design Project #038.
I started with the side panel and picked out some of the colours from the pic to water colour washed So Saffron, Sweet Sugarplum and Rich Razzleberry. This then created an ombre, water colour wash type look. I kept going over them with the aqua painter till the blended seamlessly on the card stock and so you couldn't see a definite line from where one colour finished and the other started.

On the card base I got out the Gold Wink of Stella pen, squeezed it till it was pretty much oozing out of the pen and then with my fingernail, used that to flick the brush tip end so that it would splatter across the card. It creates a beautiful, splattered sparkly effect and looks so gorgeous!

The card is then finished off with an embossed vellum circle, then a layer of Shimmery White cardstock and topped off with 'Happy' from the Hello You Thinlits and the 'Birthday' from Crazy About you. I'm really happy how this card turned out and can't wait to send it to someone for their birthday.

Make sure you have a look at the rest of the Just Add Ink gals take on the inspiration pic. You will find all the details on this weeks challenge there too and when posting your creation remember to mention Just Add Ink in your blog post!
