Hello there stamping friends! I hope that you are having a fantastic week and a fabulous day! It's Friday, Yay, and that means it's time for another Just Add Ink Challenge, Just Add Ink #606 | Sketch Challenge. We've got another fun sketch for you suggested to us by fellow JAI Design Team Member Lou Kitzelman. Lots of lines and rectangular shapes to work with, which I love.
I've used this week's sketch to have another play around with the beautiful Perfectly Penciled Designer Series Paper.
This DSP is all black and white and has a beautiful touch of elegance. The the outline of the designs are perfect for trying your hand at coloring, which is what I've done here today.
I've started my card here today with my all time favourite cardstock Shimmery White. I've used this weeks sketch in the layers of the Shimmery White cardstock for a tone on tone layered look. It's hard to see here in the photo behine the cut out of the DSP but I have added the 4 rectangular pieces like the sketch but left a slight gap inbetween each piece. Splattered over the Shimmery White layers I've added some Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint for some subtle shimmer splatter.
Instead of having the square image in the centre like the sketch used one of the floral images out from the Perfectly Penciled DSP. I used my Stampin' Up! Watercolour pencils to colour in the image and just used them just like normal pencils. These stunning images have all the shading printed on them already so what I did was colour over each image lightly with each pencil and then used the same pencil again with more preassure to add the darker lines and shading. Really all the hard work is done for you on the DSP.
I've finished the card off with some Linen Thread, Basic Pearls and the Happy Birthday from the Cottage Rose Stamp Set.
I just love the bright pops of colour against the Shimmery White. It makes for a gorgeous contrast. And this DSP is perfect for fussy cutting and colouring in. Might try one of the other designs next time for another card.
There are lots of AMAZING creations from the rest of the Just Add Ink Design Team on the JAI Blog. Go and check out everyone's take on the sketch. I love to see how everyone has a different creation all using the same sketch. Can't wait to see what you do with the sketch.
Beautiful card Rochelle! The colouring is lovely but the fussy cutting is impressive!
