Just Add Ink #258 - A Happy Hooray

This week at Just Add Ink we have a colour challenge suggest by yours truly! I love these bright bold colours and thought it would be an awesome colour combo when I suggested it but when I went to create my card I was stumped! It got me good!
Here is the colour combo...

I've said it a few times before and I'm sure it happens to most of you when you are creating but this card started out waaaaaaaaaaaaay different to what it ended up.
I originally had a the Smokey Slate layer stamped with the dictionary stamp, then the Melon Mambo Scallops were sitting at the top of the card and I was going to use one of the thinlits from the Hello You set using the silver glimmer paper. It was all going wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong! LOL!

I took a few deep breaths, looked at my stamps again and then a few other ideas 'popped' into my brain and I went from there to create the card you now see.

I must say that even though the card wasn't what I had originally planned to create I really love what it ended up to be. Sometimes when you are creating and things aren't going the way you want them too. Step back and maybe leave your creation for an hour or two and something else might come to you that you hadn't thought of before.

Be sure to have a look at what the rest of the Just Add Ink Design Team have created and come and join in the colour challenge. Can't wait to see what you create!

  1. Rochelle it's an awesome colour combo that you've come up with!!! I actually really love it when a card takes a life of it's own and takes a different path than expected :)

    1. Thanks Trish. I really love the way the card turned out but some times when we have an idea in our head and it just isn't behaving the way that it's supposed to it can be a little frustrating! It's all good though just means time to take a step back, think again and take a different approach.

  4. Isn't funny that we just know when something isn't working - it just itches away at you and then you have to figure out how to fix it! You saved it beautifully Rochelle - you have a real mix of eclectic elements and they all work together - go you :) x

    1. Thanks Kim! Many a time a card has ended up on the scrap heap because it wasn't working. Just means you have to take a different approach and look at it from a different angle.

  6. That happens to me all the time! I design a sketch and then have absolutely no idea what to do with it when it comes time to create a card. Your end result is absolutely stunning Rochelle - I adore what you've done with the colours! I really enjoyed these colours!
