Just Add Ink #537 Blog Hop | Just Add Family Challenge

Hello there stampers! Welcome to my first blog post back for 2021! I've had a very well deserved and much needed Christmas Break with my family and some time away camping in our caravan, with 7 other families. Lots of fun in the sun, swimming in the pool, swimming in the river, swimming at the beach, boating, knee-boarding, 4WD in the sand dunes, and lots of all-round summer fun!

Over at Just Add Ink, to kick off the first challenge for the year we are commencing 2021 with a blog hop to go with the new challenge. Our theme for this hop and the challenge is 'Just Add Family'. With the year that we've all had and some that are still going through with lockdowns and restrictions, spending time with, missing, and worrying about family has been a huge thing for many.

This theme covers many creative options relating to family events, milestones, missing family, and hopefully one of these ideas will help you to get creative and join in the new challenge.

My take on the Just Add Family theme is to get a head start on the birthday cards for my immediate and extended family and to try and get organised to have the birthday cards ready to go when the birthdays get started. Hopefully this year I'll be able to see family members for their birthday's this year and be able to personally give them their birthday cards.

For my card today I'm getting creative with some products from the Stampin' Up! Hydrangea Hill suite in the 2021 Jan - Jun Mini Catalogue. Have you seen this suite? It can be found on pgs. 18 - 20 of the Mini Catalogue. Lush florals and calm colours of pinks, purples, blues and greens. If you love florals then this is the suite for you!

How gorgeous are the pops of purples, blues and greens against the bright white? Super gorgeous right?! I'm normally drawn to pinks, but the purples got me in this suite this time. Most of my card today uses the beautiful Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper. For one of the pages I used my Scan N Cut to 'fussy' cut out some of the images from the DSP and then accented those images with some die cuts, ribbon and trim.

In the centre of the card I used one of the Stitched Rectangle Dies to trace around with the Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker. I was going to go for a different angle with the Basic Black Rectangle in the centre of the card but changed my mind. It still works in the finished card and adds and extra element to the card with the Basic Black outline. I've then layered some Highland Heather Cardstock and a piece of the Hydrangea Hill DSP for a gorgeous layered rectangle.

I've then finished the card off with some of the beautiful Pastel Pearls, a piece of Scalloped Linen Ribbon and the 'Happy Birthday' sentiment from the Blossoms in Bloom Stamp Set.

Click on the next button below to hop to Chantell. Make sure you click your way around to everyone on the hop as there are lots of amazing creations and lots of different takes on our 'Just Add Family' theme. Once you've been through the hop make why not get creative with your own Just Add Family creation and add it to our Just Add Ink Blog. I can't wait to see your projects!

  2. Gorgeous card! Love the bright, happy colors. I tend towards pastels but these colors are amazing! I’d love to learn how to use my Scan and Cut to “fussy cut” to cut out items but haven’t found a tutorial yet.
