Hello there stamping friends. Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I hope you are all well. I'm playing along with The Spot Creative Challenge. This is a relatively new challenge blog to me as I only found out about it a few months ago. I've been so keen to play along but haven't had the chance till now.
This weeks challenge is to CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit) one of The Spot Designers - Jay Soriano. Jay is a crazy talented crafter and is amazing at adding those gorgeous 'Pops' of colour!
I scrolled way back in Jay's Instagram feed and this project caught my eye. I love the layout and the spray of flowers across the page as well as the little touches of grunge.
While Jay's project is an A5 Home Decor piece I've used the layout and inspiration of this piece for my card today. I'm using the amazing Basic Black and Whisper White True Love 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper as the main focus for my card with a touch of coloring using Stampin' Blends and Copic Alcohol Markers.
I love, love, love anything in classic black and white and this DSP is no different. Other than this DSP being black and white, the other amazing thing that I love is that you can colour the images to suit any of your projects. There are a few different sheets of floral images so it's just a matter of which one to choose.
My whole card started first by cutting out one of the floral sheets of this gorgeous DSP on my ScanNCut. This makes short work of cutting out images like this and is done before you can even find your favourite scissors to 'fussy cut' them out.
Once the flowers were cut I've coloured them in with Copic Markers using a Flicking technique. Hold your marker right near the nib and gently and quickly flick the marker away from you to make 'streaks' of colour. I like to start with the darkest colour and then graduate to the lightest. I love the 'streaky' effect and the look of texture that this Flicking Technique gives. Gorgeous!
