Fancy Friday Blog Hop | No White Challenge

Hello there stamping friends! Welcome to this months Fancy Friday Blog Hop. I'm so thrilled to have you here today to share my projects with you and hopefully inspire you. I'm hopping with my fancy friends today- all are either current or former members of the Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team. We just love getting creative and sharing our projects.

The the theme for us this month is 'No White Challenge'.  What this means is we have to create a project using ONLY color cardstock and inks! NO ink or cardstock or anything else WHITE! Eek! What a challenge!! After much thinking about what I would do, I remembered that you can use the Stampin' Blend Alcohol Markers on Crumb Cake Cardstock! So out came still my favourite stamp set - Good Morning Magnolia, for some more colouring love! I thought this challenge would be really difficult as I love using lots of white too but once the idea came to me it was all systems go and came together quite easily.

To be able to see the colouring on the Crumb Cake cardstock, the darker colours work the best to still get that intensity and depth of colour. Here for my card today, the blends I used are -
  • Magnolia: Rococo Rose Dark ; Rococo Rose Light; Flirty Flamingo Light
  • Leaves: Mossy Meadow Dark; Mossy Meadow Light
  • Branch: Crumb Cake Dark; Crumb Cake Light
  • Shadow - Crumb Cake Light

I love that by colouring on the Crumb Cake, the cardstock changes up the colours for a different look.  Start by stamping your image with Memento Ink and then using your chosen blends to colour in your image. Maybe test your chosen colours on a scrap piece of Crumb Cake to see what the colours will look like when coloured on the cardstock.

Once the magnolia was coloured I used the Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker for some black ink splatters and also to rule a border around the card to 'frame' it. I probably would have used some black cardstock and White Stamppin' Emboss Powder for the sentiment as it would have been a gorgeous contrast, but as this is a no white challenge I used Crumb Cake carsdstock and Black Stampin' Emboss Powder which works as well.

Finish the card off with Linen Thread, Rococo Rose Scalloped Linen Ribbon and Basic Rhinestone Jewels.

Have you used the Stampin' Blends on Crumb Cake cardstock before? I hope I've inspired you to give it a go. Why not try it for your next project. I really does give that WOW look.
