Faux Metal Embellishments using Stampin' Up! Magnolia Memory Dies.

Hello there stamping friends! I'm here today to share with you a fun tip that helps you get more out of your dies and helps coordinate 'embellishments' when you can't find what your looking for.

Did you know that you can use Stampin’ Up! dies and Stampin’ Emboss Powder to create your own faux metal embellishments?

 Here’s how: 

Step 1. Die cut three of the die shape you are using for your embellishment. 

Step 2. Adhere these three die cuts together with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. This makes for a stronger embellishment, as one die cut makes it too flimsy. 

Step 3. Firmly press your thicker die cut onto a VersaMark Ink Pad, or place your die cut face up on some grid paper and press the VersaMark Ink Pad onto your die cut to cover it with ink. 

Step 4. Preferably using tweezers, pick up your die-cut piece and cover it with Stampin’ Emboss Powder, remembering to cover the sides as well, and then heat set the powder with you Heat Tool. Step 5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 till you have 3–4 layers of Stampin’ Emboss Powder on your die cut. You won’t need any more layers than four as the heated embossing powder will drip off the die cut if you add any more layers than four. 

Step 6. Once your faux metal embellishments have completely cooled, add them to your next project for a fun metallic look

  I've used my 'metal' embellishments on this card here today. I used the dies from the Memory Dies for my embellishments and then coordinated some of the products from the Magnolia Lane Suite but completely changed up the colours as to what is originally in the suite. 

I started with the Purple Posy background and then embossed it with the Magnolia 3D Embossing Folder. WOW that embossing folder is amazing and I really love it in the Purple Posy. Splattered over the embossed layer is some Multipurpose Glue mixed with water and then splattered on the cardstock using an aqua painter. Over that I've then poured Gold Stampin' Emboss powder and then heat set it. Another fun tip/technique that I love to do.

Layered then on the front of the card is a piece of the Stitched Lace Die in Blushing Bride, gorgeous colour combo right there, and then added some the Very Vanilla Scalloped  Lace Trim, a piece of the Purple Posy Scalloped Linen Ribbon and a sticker from the Magnolia Lane Memories & More Card Pack. Combined with a Stitched Circle, Copper Trim (cut down one side and stretched open), Happy Birthday from Itty Bitty Birthdays. And then finished off with my 'metal' embellishments, Designer Elements and some Linen Thread. Pretty, Pretty, Pretty.

I'm so loving the Purple Posy and Blushing Bride together. Will have to make a project just to use that colour combo. And how good does it look with the metallic elements to finish the card off.

Just Add Ink #467 | Just Add A Sketch

Hello stamping friends! Welcome, welcome. Today its time for this weeks new challenge over at Just Add Ink. We have a fun sketch with some fun angles and space for some fabulous layering and gorgeous embellishments.

I love a good sketch challenge but this one as straight forward as it is, completely threw me. I think it its the square being on an angle. I'm all about straight lines and can't handle when things are put at an angle. So with that I just had to change up the sketch and make the world right again by putting the square element straight again.

I've started with the beautiful 2019 -2021 In Colour cardstock - Purple Posy. My photo here doesn't do the colour justice as to how stunning it is. I've embossed with Purple Posy Cardstock with the gorgeous Scripty 3D embossing folder.  The embossed 'script' gives a beautiful soft, subtle and delicate look to any creation. So pretty!

Layered over the embossed script layer I've teamed up the coordinating Purple Posy Scalloped Linen Ribbon, Sahara Sand Woven Threads Trim and Whisper White Solid Baker's Twine. These ribbon and trim layers give some gorgeous texture. 

I've die cut some squares from the Stitched Shapes Dies and then over that I've layered some Vellum and then embossed the sentiment using Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder. Layered then over the vellum is one of the floral images from the gorgeous Bloom and Grow Stamp set. This is also embossed with Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder on Shimmery White cardstock and then coloured with Stampin' Blends Alcohol Markers - Rich Razzleberry, Highland Heather, Purple Posy, Mossy Meadow and Old Olive, using both dark and light markers. 

All the card really needs to finish it off is some of the Purple Posy Faceted Dots from the 2019 -2021 In Colour Faceted Dots Embellishments. Pretty!!!

Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop | Perennial Essence Suite

Hello there stamping friends! Welcome to the July Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop! The team has so many amazing creations for you to see! I hope that you take the time to check out all 16 blogs! With so many different looks and creations, there is so much creativity to inspire you. There is something for every different creative style. So lets get hopping!

This month we are all about the Perennial Essence Suite products from the 2019 - 2020 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue. Have you seen this gorgeous suite yet? The products of this suite can be found on pg.106 - 108 in the new Annual Catalogue. So pretty!

This amazing suite has a the gorgeous Floral Essence Stamp Set and the coordinating Perennial Essence Flower Punch. Got to love the Stampin' Up! product coordination! Another amazing product in this fantastic suite is the Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper. The Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper features hand-painted impressionistic imagery in rich colours and it is beautiful enough to be framed on its own! Just so stunning!

I've combined the Floral Essence Stamp set and the beautiful Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper with some of the other stunning products in this suite - Perennial Essence Vellum Cardstock, 5/8" Organdy Striped Ribbon in Petal Pink and the Perennial Essence Floral Centres. I've used the colours from one of the sheets of the DSP as the colours for my projects today.

I'm just a sucker for any product that has a hint of pink in it so I started my card today with the Petal Pink Vellum from the Perennial Essence Vellum Cardstock, which comes in three colours - Old Olive, Petal Pink and So Saffron, and ran it through the Subtle Embossing Folder for that gorgeous 'sublte' hint of embossing. The Subtle Embossing Folder just adds that something special without it being too much. Layered with the Perennial Essence DSP, the 5/8" Petal Pink Organdy Ribbon and images from the Floral Essence Stamp set, it makes for a pretty in pink creation.

I've used nearly all the same products for my second card but changed up the look. I wanted to soften the look of the DSP layer, so over that I layered an embossed layer of Vellum Cardstock. The colours of the DSP show through the vellum but the 'busyness' of the DSP is toned down. I've embossed the flowers with Gold Stampin' Emboss powder on Shimmery White Cardstock and then using an Aqua Painter, water coloured the flowers with Petal Pink Classic Ink. The touches of gold really accent the Petal Pink elements and the Crushed Curry tones in the DSP and the embellishments.

I love how these all these elements look layered up and the Basic Black sentiment panel is a beautiful contrast to the soft colours on the rest of the card.

This is such a gorgeous and pretty suite and I do hope that I've given you some inspiration on using some of the products from the Perennial Essence Suite. It's just so pretty!

Just Add Ink #464 | Colour Challenge

Happy Friday Stamping Friends! Hello and welcome to this weeks new challenge over at Just Add Ink | Just Add Ink #464. This week its a colour challenge suggested to us by team member Jackie Aitken. It's super fun and super pretty.

I think with the Flirty Flamingo and the Greens in this colour combo really lends itself to flowers and leaves and that's what I've incorporated on my card today.

I nearly ended up with a no stamping project today, using mostly dies, but I had to incorporate a sentiment somewhere.

I've started with a Shimmery White base layer and embossed that with the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder from the new Stampin' Up! 2019 -2020 Annual Catalogue. This embossing folder is so beautiful. It gives any project a stunning and subtle elegance. Put this embossing folder on your next Stampin' Up! order. I can guarantee that you won't be disappointed! 

I could have left the Scripty Embossing layer as is and that would have been beautiful in itself but I decided to add a Stitched Lace Die frame that I first die cut with the Stitched Lace Die and then die cut the frame with the Stitched Rectangle Dies.  I think because its white on white it makes for a gorgeous, elegant look. So pretty!! 

Over the embossing Shimmery White layer is a layering of the Stitched Nested Label Dies in Soft Sea Foam Cardstock and then the flowers and leaves are die cut from the Wild Rose Dies. Lots of gorgeousness and prettiness.

All finished of with some Linen Thread, Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon and some sequins from the Iridescent Sequin Assortment.

TGIF Challenges | #TGIFC218 | With Sympathy

Hello stamping friends! Welcome, welcome! Today I'm sharing a project for the current TGIF Challenges | #TGIFC218 - With Sympathy theme. It is a theme that no one really likes to create for. We want to make cards for joyous occasions like birthdays and new babies and weddings. But really we should make the cards for the tough times too. 

It is important to have a few Sympathy cards in our stash so that we can send them when we need them. Sometimes it can be really hard to create them when we HAVE to.

Even though this is one of the cards that I had to create and get out in the post this week it really came together quite quickly.  I had some bits and pieces sitting on my desks from some projects where the ideas just didn't quite come together and had saved elements for another day.

I wanted this card to have a little bit of colour but still having a muted, not over the top look.  I started with the beautiful Perennial Essence DSP with the blue and purple tones and to soften the card added a layer of vellum.

Over the vellum is some Whisper White Flax Ribbon and Purple Posy Scalloped Linen Ribbon. With that is a piece of the Stitched Lace Die that I die cut again with the Stitched Rectangle and then layered with the Stitched Nested Labels die cut in Purple Posy cardstock.

The card is then finished off with a little bit of colour using the flowers from the Floral Essence stamp set. Two of the flowers I embossed with Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder on Vellum and then one, also embossed with Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder on Shimmery White cardstock.

 Just a little bit of Braided  Linen Thread and a Heat Embossed Sentiment to finish off the card and that's all that it really needs.

Fancy Friday Blog Hop | Favourite New Annual Catalogue Products

Hello stamping friends! Its the last Friday of the month so its time for us to get our fancy on! Welcome to this months Fancy Friday Blog Hop!

The Fancy Friday Design Team are sharing with you all our favourite products from the new 2019 - 2020 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue! I'm using the stamp set that caught my eye the very first time I saw the new Annual Catalogue. I even let out a gasp when I saw it I was that taken aback. Its the Good Morning Magnolia Stamp Set with that big, gorgeous Magnolia flower. The whole Magnolia Lane Suite, found on pgs.36 - 38, is just all round amazing.

So I've pulled out my Stampin' Blends Alcohol Markers and coloured this gorgeous flower in. The samples of this flower are show in light, pale pink colour but Magnolia's come in a whole range of colours, including a deep purple colour like what I've done here today. Google Magnolia Flower colours and you'll see the amazing range of colours that they come in.

I've actually used the Stampin' Blends on Crumb Cake Cardstock and this gives the Blends Colours a whole different look. I used the Mossy Meadow Light and Dark for the leaves and Rich Razzleberry Light and Dark for the flower. 

By using the Crumb Cake Cardstock and then die cutting the flower out the Crumb Cake edge around the flower looks like a shadow around the Magnolia and looks like there is some dimension to the image against the Shimmery White.

Because this flower really doesn't need much else to go with it, it really does speak for itself, I've left the card fairly plain with the 'Hello' sentiment heat embossed with White Stampin' Emboss Powder then the Magnolia Lane Mossy Meadow Linen Thread combined with Linen Thread for a little bit of trim. The Gold Metallic Pearls really finish off the card and add to the elegant nature of the card!

Make sure that you check out all the colours that Magnolia's come in and then use those colours from your next Good Morning Magnolia project.

Just Add Ink #463 | Just Choose Two

Hello stamping friends! Welcome to the newest challenge for Just Add Ink #463 | Just Choose Two - Foil, Ribbon or Sequins. We haven't done a Just Choose Two for a while so it's fun to do something a little different that our usual challenge schedule.

I love to use foil, ribbon and sequins on nearly all my projects, so it was hard to 'Just Choose Two'. I did eventually chose two products to use and went with foil and ribbon and used them with at new Stampin' Up! bundle - A Little Lace and my new favourite colour Pretty Peacock.

In the 'A Little Lace' bundle there is the most amazing die 'lace' die that cuts a full cardstock panel and that is what I've used here today with the Gold Foil Sheets. It has a separate scalloped edge die with it so you can give the lace panel a beautiful scalloped edge or you can leave it with a straight edge and then die cut it into your preferred shape.

For some added interest I've layered a piece of the Pretty Peacock 6" x 6" In Colour Designer Series Paper. You can see some of the script writing peeking through the lace holes for a different look

I added a piece of the White Flax Ribbon over the lace and then added a piece of the Pretty Peacock Scalloped Linen Ribbon, which I cut in half and pulled all the linen threads out of it, and then finished off the card with two of the images from the A Little Lace stamp set and the sentiment also from the same set.
